This luxury house is an imaginatively designed home, set amongst almost two acres of tropical walled gardens with far-reaching views over the local countryside. With the house, verandahs, and pool area spanning over 6,000 square feet, it is the perfect holiday home for families or groups of friends to relax and unwind amongst the wonderful nature. The house has four uniquely designed guest suites and can comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests. It is fully staffed and includes an excellent chef.
What’s inside this Divine villa near Galle, Owned by a British designer?
This Divine villa in Talpe, near Galle, Sri Lanka can accommodate 08 guests in 04 beautiful bedrooms, it takes inspiration initially from a traditional Sri Lankan bungalow and combines it with a mix of Mediterranean and Moroccan influences. The owner wanted to create an island retreat, a home away from home, where family and friends could gather and create special memories and lasting experiences. Inspired by the nature of Sri Lanka – the ocean, the beach, the hills and the jungle, she wanted to incorporate as many outside elements but with intriguing design details and finishes. The house has a strong sense of openness infused with beauty and magic.
The architecture features handmade encaustic patterned and Moroccan bejmet tiles, refurbished Dutch antique doors and windows, fretworks inspired by Sri Lankan houses, and a range of organically shaped built-in concrete furniture. Within the house, the interior is populated with locally made bespoke furniture dressed in stunning artisanal fabrics from around the world, as well as a carefully curated selection of antiques and precious objects.
THE BEDROOMS
PALM SUITE – MASTER DOUBLE
Situated slightly away from the other three bedrooms, south facing and overlooking the countryside beyond and the pool. It is connected to the main sitting room by a semi-open hallway with fret screens leading into the suite through beautiful white carved antique Dutch doors. The suite features a four-poster rattan bed, a seating area, and a large walk-in wardrobe. French doors open out to a spacious verandah with built-in seating. The room includes a bright en-suite open-concept bathroom, which overlooks the garden.
PEARL SUITE – DOUBLE
This is the second largest suite and is approached from the beautiful arched entrance hallway through antique Dutch doors. French doors lead onto a spacious terrace, where built-in seating provides lovely views of the garden and pool beyond. There is a connecting doorway through from Pearl to the Peacock suite, making the adjoining suites perfect for families. En-suite.
PEACOCK SUITE – TWIN
Peacock is the iconic twin-bedded suite situated at the front of the house and entered through a Moroccan-inspired open courtyard. This room is perfect for little ones as it has an interconnecting door through to the Pearl Suite. Children and adults alike will be delighted by the green barley twist four-poster beds, which mirror two antique windows and accentuate the lofty space. The bright ensuite bathroom continues the peacock green theme, featuring intricately patterned green Moorish encaustic tiles, curved white titanium finishes, brass fittings, walk-in shower and a small outdoor courtyard. It also has a spacious verandah balcony with built-in seating.
POL SUITE
Pol means “coconut” in Sinhala. Sitting under coconut trees at the front of the house, this room is also approached from the open Moroccan-inspired courtyard through antique Dutch doors. The room features a unique built-in titanium white bed that also doubles as a console desk with bedside lamps. Blue and white furnishings give the space a fresh coastal appeal, lending it a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Hand-painted stencils around the archway, a collection of Peruvian mirrors and striking artwork give this room a magical touch. Pol has the only bathroom in the house that features an outdoor shower (the rest of the bathroom can be closed off to the elements), allowing you to shower under the stars. The room also features a
private verandah with built-in seating with garden views.

From al fresco dining by the verandah to refreshing cocktails and tapas by Lionel’s Bar or the poolside, enjoy exceptional dining experiences with stunning countryside views at every turn. Indulge in the freshest produce, authentic local signatures and Mediterranean favourites, whipped up by the dedicated in-house Chef Prabath, famed for serving up the most succulent lobster dish this side of Galle.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the breezy verandah, overlooking the pool and local countryside. Flowing seamlessly from the interior spaces, the verandah is dotted with numerous seating areas and pretty rattan furnishing, offering charming views at every turn.

Lionel’s Bar And Poolside Dining
Away from the main house, Lionel’s Bar is our pretty little tipple corner. Tiled in pink against a shimmery backdrop of mirrored fret, Lionel’s bar is the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing cocktail. Bigger groups would love the large dining table next to the bar, perfect for al fresco gatherings overlooking the pool.

PROPERTY RULES
- At The House, we hope that you will make yourself at home whilst treating the house with care. To help us maintain a pleasant and safe environment, please observe the following:
- Please treat our staff with respect – we hope to create a kind and courteous environment.
- Strictly no smoking is allowed in the main house, including the verandahs. However, if you wish to smoke you may do so in the gardens, pool area, Lionel’s Bar and Ambalama.
- Any damage to or removal of villa’s properties/objects/furniture by the guest, whether accidental or willful, will be chargeable.
- Please refrain from eating in the bedrooms. As we are in the tropics, we do not hope to attract insects! However, eating on the verandah is allowed.
- If you have a massage please make sure all oils are washed off before using our bedlinen.
- Please use the shower before every swim.
- For the safety of guests, please use plastic drinkware on the pool deck.
- Strictly no parties allowed.
- Only registered guests with a booking will be allowed onto the premises. Outside guests are not allowed without prior arrangement.
- Pets are not allowed.

Prices may change based on the time of your booking, arrival date, and length of stay. Whilst every effort is made to keep rates current, they are subject to change from time to time. If there is a rate change you will be informed before a booking is confirmed. Confirmed booking rates will not change.
Security deposit: Upon arrival at the villa you may be required to pay a security deposit. The security deposit, if applicable, will be returned to you prior to departure or as agreed less any extra charges or costs for accidental damage to the property.
Check-in/out
- Usual Check-in after 2.00 pm and Check out – Before 11.00 am
- Late check-outs up to 6.00 pm may incur a half-day charge, after 6.00 pm a full day may be charged.
- Every effort will be made to accommodate other check-in/out times but this will depend on availability.
